Where information becomes knowledge...

I have been doing a lot of work with Blue Coat SG appliances recently. For those who are not familiar with the Blue Coat SG appliances, the Blue Coat SG appliances are proxy appliances. In working with the deployment of the Blue Coat SG, I have had to work with several Proxy Auto Configuration(PAC) files. PAC files are javascript files which are evaluated by the browser to determine if the browser should use a proxy and which proxy. The document that I typically use as a reference for PAC files can be found

I have been playing with Eric as an editor for my Django project and here are my thoughts.

This week, I found a really cool development environment for Python! The Eric Python IDE. Eric is a bit slow to start because it is written fully in Python and it was a bit tricky to install in Windows, see here, but once it is up and running, it has made my Python development a lot easier.
There are a few features that have really made me want to learn more about Eric:

I have installed Windows 7 RC 1 on two computers so far. My main work computer and the family computer. Both of the installations were upgrades from Windows 7 Beta.
On my work computer, I ran into issues with the Riverbed client. With the Riverbed client installed, I did not have any network connectivity. I should clarify that, I had connectivity from command line, but no connectivity from applications, like Outlook or Firefox.

I have installed, ok, really upgraded to, Windows 7 RC 1. I found a "hack" to allow me to do the upgrade. The "hack" can be found here.
The upgrade process took about 1 hour and only asked a few questions at the beginning and at the end of the process. At the end, the upgrade process just asked for my new product key.
