I have been using Parallels for over a week and Parallels performs much better than VirtualBox. I have not had any issues with crashing, USB connections, sharing files, and Windows 7 Aero works just fine. I loved the way that Parallels converted my VirtualBox image and ran the converted images without any issues.
I have tried the various modes of Parallels; like Coherence Mode, but I still find it very confusing to have OS X applications running right along side Windows applications. I like to have my Windows applications running in a single window. When in the office, I have OS X applications running on the Macbook Pro screen and Windows applications running on an attached monitor. I like it that way, keeps the operating systems separate from each other.
Today, I did run into one "major" issue. I tried to convert some VMware images to Parallels and the Windows based VMware images converted cleanly while the Linux based images failed to convert. Some of the Linux based images are images that I require when I teach training and thus, I need to be able to run the images, or go back to a Windows machine, which is not really an option at this point. So, I guess I am going to have to try VMware Fusion. I was kind of holding back from running/trying VMware Fusion, but I am going to need to be able to run the VMware images when I am teaching training.
I am might give Fusion a kick this weekend, but I still have another week before I have to purchase Parallels.
