Windows 7 RC 1 - First Impressions

I have installed, ok, really upgraded to, Windows 7 RC 1.  I found a "hack" to allow me to do the upgrade.  The "hack" can be found here.

The upgrade process took about 1 hour and only asked a few questions at the beginning and at the end of the process.  At the end, the upgrade process just asked for my new product key.

When I first logged into Windows 7 RC 1, I was not impressed, the login took 20 minutes!  I was really worried, but then I found out that I did not have network connectivity.  From command line, I could ping and resolve names, but none of my programs worked.  I then started to uninstall any network shim programs that I had installed and the only thing that was not critical was my Riverbed client.  Riverbed does WAN acceleration and typically saves me, so the client says, about 50-60% through compression and optimization.  Anyway, once removed Windows 7 RC 1 was much snappier and everything started to work.

I am going to wait a few days before installing the Riverbed client again, but so far, everything else appears to be working as expected.  I have not noticed anything that makes me say "Wow" over Windows 7 Beta, but it is still early.
