Recently, I got an iTouch. I have had an 80 Gig iPod for a few years and love listening to podcasts all the time; working out, driving, and riding the train. So, when I had the chance to get an iTouch, I thought what the heck. I got the iTouch as part of a promotion for a course I was taking. I had the option to get an iPod or an iTouch, so I took the latter.
First, the iTouch is way cool. I love the look and feel of the device. The interface is simple and intuitive. I really like the way is shows photos and video. Very impressive. I love being able to rotate the screen, zooming, and flipping between photos.
As a music player, I think the iTouch is ok. The iPod was very simple and a few buttons to switch between songs and change the volume, on the iTouch, you are missing the buttons, so when I want to change the song or volume, I need to look at the iTouch and make the changes.
Browsing is a welcome addition to a small platform with touch. I have been playing with the iTouch as a news reader, going to web sites that I would normally go to on the computer and reading information. Does it replace the computer for this function, no, but it is cool to site down and catch up on some reading anywhere I have wireless access.
Will the iTouch replace my iPod? I think so, only because iTouch is way cooler than the iPod, today. I will continue to play and wait to see what is offered in version 2.0 of the software comes out and the Apple store opens.
